The visible craft matters — but it is the twelve inches underneath that determine whether a terrace still sits flat in fifteen years.

What moves the number
- Material selection
- Travertine, bluestone, and clay pavers span a wide range per square foot. The labor is similar; the material is where the budget moves.
- Elevation change
- Flat installations are straightforward. Anything that steps or retains adds engineering, drainage, and structural base — which is where cost accumulates.
- Site access
- Stone is heavy. If machines can reach the work, the project is faster and cheaper. If it moves by wheelbarrow through a side gate, that is real labor and we say so up front.

How long before I can use a new terrace?
Dry-laid stone is usable immediately. Mortared work and anything with a fire feature needs a cure period, typically three to seven days depending on the assembly.
Will pavers shift over time?
Not if the base is right. Nearly every settled patio we are called to repair failed underneath, not on the surface. That is why our base spec is heavier than the minimum.
